About us

On the nutrient-rich soils in the Elbe glacial valley, pome, stone, and berry fruits have been growing for over 650 years, with apples being the main product. 300 fruit farmers from the region manage more than 5,000 Ha of cultivated area.

They deliver their products to the Elbe-Obst for storage, sorting, packaging and marketing to customers. Since 1989, there is controlled integrated cultivation. Some years later we start with organic production on partial areas. The main objective of the cultivation process is the production of uncontaminated fruit for the consumer and the protection of the environment and nature.

To sort the size, coloring, and quality of the fruit, photo-optical sorting is used. To test the inner quality, light is shone through the apple, where storage damage and flesh browning can be detected. In our packing house we use packing lines such as Blitzmatic, Foodtainer, laying goods, baskets, cartons, as well as bags and knotted bags. In the process an automated production control system is used.

SweeTango

The apple year begins with SweeTango™ in the retail trade approximately from the end of August. In addition to the USP of the early marketing start, SweeTango™ offers a top product in terms of taste with uncompromising loyalty when it comes to quality. The larger cell structure of SweeTango™ compared to other apples results in a unique texture. It is therefore twice as juicy, twice as crunchy, and twice as refreshing.

Protected Cultivation for Cherries

Beginning as early as April, the foils are installed to protect the cherry blossom from frost, moisture, and possible hail. But also, to prevent the contact of the cherry with rainfall during the ripening phase. This prevents them from bursting and allows them to ripen fully. The taste of the covered cherries is described to be more intense and juicier. In addition, birds or insects cannot damage the cherries.

Sale of the main varieties starts with the Kordia variety starting at the beginning of July. Due to the vegetation, the expected quantity, and the sophisticated storage techniques, Elbe-Obst also focuses on the late marketing phase up to the second half of August.

Sorting takes place by photo-optics according to color and size up to 34 millimeters. Filling takes place directly at the sorting machine.
